While the categories below may seem like separate areas of work, they overlap a great deal. For example, effective relationship work is not possible without personal work or a committed spiritual practice. Consider each category as a starting point. All are based on my “Pathways Home” approach. Of course, any work we do together is yours and will be tailored to how you’re being called forth.

Personal Work

Work individually with me to explore your inner life, especially as guided by the amazing vehicle that is your body. We pick up where you are in your life phase and deepen from there. Are you in transition? Struggling with a crisis? Looking for integration of significant changes in your life? Building a new relationship with the “outer world” that you’re having trouble connecting with? Personal work can be established as a long-term practice, or for shorter engagements to develop a particular skill or life strategies.

Relationship Work

I work with all configurations of relationship – especially those of a committed nature: couples, family, friends, work colleagues, community connections, and more. The heart of relationship work focuses on working with who we see in the mirror that the other holds up to us.

I work as a teaching assistant to Marcia and Brian Gleason (The Embodied Relationship Approach), leading “Train the Trainer” workshops and general workshops for couples, relationship configurations, and groups.

Contemplative Work (un-selfing)

I consider Contemplative Work the dance between selfing and un-selfing. I support you in developing and staying committed to somatic-based contemplative practices like meditation, movement, connection with nature, journaling, and other ways to access and deepen your intuitive essence – really the “you” we all know is there beyond our small, egoic selves. I provide the support for a shift away from the life you’ve habitually lived into one that is joyful, free and uniquely yours.

A particularly effective tool I can guide you through is Mondo Zen. Mondo is a koan-based process and teaching offering profound instruction in embodied meditation. The Mondo Zen process is a powerful tool for working with our habitual patterns of emotional reactivity in daily life – using the deeper awareness that we connect with in our meditation.

Practice Groups

We all need each other to be fully part of this life. Regardless of the particulars of your life struggles, when you join a group of people in a safe, trusting place of vulnerability, you’ll dive deep, and surface with greater clarity, self-forgiveness, and love. Learning in groups offers the ultimate deepening to bring the skills and awareness we develop in our personal work to the challenges of our outer lives. I’m happy to work with an existing group or pull together a new configuration. In either case we will identify a particular theme or aspect of relationship work (mutual personal support, conflict, cultural issues, spiritual practice, etc.), and move forward from there.

Workshops and Retreats

I draw on over 40 years of leading workshops and experiences around themes of leadership, teamwork, and groups (including 20 years through the UMass/Amherst HR Labor/Management Workplace Education Program). Contact me to discuss how I can work with you to design and implement a customized program to meet your specific needs.
